It was an amazing moment for North Wales teenager Madison Williams when she received a special award at a top football match on Tuesday night.
Madison, 17, a key member of Llandudno’s Adran North championship-winning squad last season, was presented with her Wales cap before the Cymru v Slovenia Women’s World Cup qualifier at Cardiff City Stadium.
The match finished 0-0, meaning Wales have qualified for a World Cup play-off for the first time in their history.
Madison’s cap represents her season playing for Wales Under-17’s, where she came up against Sweden, Scotland, England and Italy. She featured in a Euro qualifier in Sweden.
In club grassroots football, Maddie has turned out for Penrhyn Bay Girls, Conwy County, North Wales regional teams, Llandudno Swifts and Llandudno Academy Boys before Llandudno Ladies.
A centre-back or full-back, she was a standout player for Llandudno Ladies in their 2021-22 title-winning campaign.
She was part of the Tudno side which began the 2022-23 season with an 8-0 victory over CPD Y Rhyl 1879 on Sunday.
