News on the 2022-23 NWCFA Intermediate Cup first round draw – who meets who?
Local rivals Meliden and Prestatyn Sports have drawn each other in the first round of this season’s NWCFA Intermediate Cup.
The tier 4 teams only met last night in the North Wales Coast East Premier Division, Sports winning 2-1 at The Meadows.
Next month’s cup clash will be at Meliden’s ground, The Mine.
The NWCFA Intermediate Cup is for tier 4 sides which compete in the North Wales Coast East and West Premier Divisions.
Last season saw the cup re-introduced to the football calendar after a six-year absence, but organisers ran out of time to stage the final between CPD Y Rhyl 1879 and Bangor 1876.
The match was rearranged for the end of August 2022, but Bangor 1876 pulled out of the competition, stating fitting in the final would be one game too many in a hectic start to their new campaign in the tier 3 Ardal North West.
It is yet to be announced whether the cup will be automatically presented to Rhyl 1879.
This is the first round draw released by the NWCFA last night.
