North Wales Women’s Cricket League – Northop Hall win thriller, mixed fortunes for Bethesda

What an amazing day of cricket it was again in the North Wales Women’s League.
Fresh from their stunning win over Colwyn Bay, Northop Hall did it again with the narrowest of victories over champions Bethesda.
Pesda were also given a tough test by Conwy Celts, but the title holders stayed strong to win that one.
The title race is fascinating and has the potential to go down to the wire.
Bethesda 125-3 (net score 310) Northop Hall 121-2 (net 311)
Result: Northop Hall (20 points) beat Bethesda (6) by one run
What a game at Conwy where Northop Hall’s excellent recent form continued against the champions.
Put into bat, Bethesda could feel very satisfied with a score of 125-3 off 16 overs (net 310), Ellie Creek making 18, captain Hannah Jones 20 (once out = 15), Bethan Briggs 15 and Millie Forte 10.
For the opposition, Kathryn Rhymer took 2-10 and Hollie Sigsworth 1-14.
Northop Hall then batted really well to reach 121-2 in 16 overs (net 311), making them winners by just one run in an even closer battle than their three-run success against Colwyn Bay the previous weekend.
Stephanie Noonan struck 19 and captain Sarah Armstrong 12, while for Pesda, Rhiannon Roberts and Hannah Jones claimed a wicket each.
Conwy Celts 101-8 (net score 261) Bethesda 111-4 (net score 291)
Result: Bethesda (20 pts) beat Conwy Celts (7 pts) by 30 runs
Bethan Briggs top-scored with 24 as Bethesda defeated Conwy Celts by 30 runs in an entertaining match.
Conwy chose to bat first and set 101-8 from 16 overs for a net score of 261, Hannah Nicholls posting 11.
Emma Jones scooped 3-15 and Hannah Jones 2-18, while there was a wicket each for Rhiannon Roberts, Megan Hughes and Ellie Creek. Pesda impressed in taking their catches.
In reply, Bethesda struck 111-4 for a net 291. Briggs made 29 (once out = 24), Emma Jones 16 (once out = 11) and Ellie Creek 11.
Emma Leighton-Jones took 2-21, Llinos Hill 1-9 and Abbey Young 1-17 for the home side, who really did put up a good show.
