A fifth-wicket stand of 73 between Adam Campion and Will Ryan was a key component in Wales NC North’s brilliant win over Northumberland at Bangor on Tuesday.
The visitors won the toss and put their opponents in, and when Matthew Humphreys was out for 38, opener Sam Rimmington having earlier made 25, the home side were 99-4.
Wales NC North then gained the upper hand in this 30-overs-a-side contest as Campion posted 48 not out and skipper Ryan 24 in that pivotal partnership.
The home innings finished on 191-7, Max Williamson best for the travellers with 2-22.
In reply, Northumberland dipped to 118-8, John Oswell hitting 32, before an unbeaten 34 by Matthew Oswell gave the away team some hope, but their effort ended on 170 all out with one ball remaining.
Danny Ryan snared 3-23 for the hosts, Owen Reilly 2-26 and Campion 2-32, while Jack Gower took four catches behind the sticks and executed a run out.
Today (Wednesday, August 3) the action moves a short distance to Menai Bridge CC where Wales NC North take on Northumberland in two T20 matches.
Games start at 11 pm and 2.30 pm.
