The Lionesses were not the only women’s team celebrating on Sunday – our own Llandudno side had a pretty good day too.

Sarah Colville’s charges emerged unbeaten over five matches to win the Britannia Cup tournament held at the Cheshire Sports Club in Chester. This is a competition Llandudno had won in the past.

The 2021-22 Ardal North champions scored 12 goals and conceded just two.

One welcome new face on the day was trialist Mari Gibbard, who was Llandudno’s top-scorer with 16 goals in all competitions when she represented them in the Welsh Premier in 2018-19.

Mari grabbed the decider in the first game, which saw Tudno beat AFC Darwen 1-0.

In the second match, Llandudno defeated AFC Bury 3-0, Maddison Williams, Ffion Owen and new signing Erin Doran on target.

Louisha Doran, Sioned Phillips and Jasmin Dutton all netted one each as the Seasiders overcame Pilkington 3-0 next up.

And the score was 3-0 again as Carlisle United were outscored, an own goal, Sioned Phillips and Mari Gibbard securing the win.

The only slight blip on the day was a 2-2 draw against Boldmere St Michael’s in the curtain-closer, Indie Hassall and Dutton on the mark.
