Cricket: Flintshire Knockout Trophy final on knife edge entering Thursday’s second leg

FLINTSHIRE KNOCKOUT FINAL FIRST LEG

Northop 143-9 (20 overs) Pontblyddyn 137-7 (20)
Northop lead by six runs

There is still all to play for in the 2022 Flintshire Knockout Final with Pontblyddyn just six runs behind entering this Thursday’s second leg at Alder Meadow (6.15 pm start).

Put into bat in Tuesday’s first leg at Flint Road, Pont scored 137-7 off their 20 overs, opener Jonathan Byrd hitting 45 and Alistair Roberts 30.

Tom Sudder picked up 3-23 and Matthew Williams 2-34 for the home side.

Northop hit back with 143-9 off their allotted overs, skipper Bart Ryan-Beswick striking what could prove a decisive 43 batting at seven, while Darren Williams notched 27 and Chris Brooks 23.

Byrd collected 3-53 and James Hughes 2-13 for the visitors.
