Llanfairfechan Town’s women’s team are seeking a manager as they aim to make an impact in league football this season.
To date Llanfair have always been a strong recreational football side, but now the plan is to progress a step further and join the North Wales Women’s League in 2022-23.
However, first they need a manager. Discussions have been ongoing during recent weeks with one or two potential candidates, but so far finding the right person has proved elusive.
Llanfairfechan women played their first-ever match in August 2019. Maddie Williams, Rachel Evans and Kelsey Robinson had spent several weeks organising training and getting a squad together.
Town entered the short-lived North Wales Recreational League in 2019-20 and performed well in a season shortened by Covid.
After the 2020-21 campaign was completely wiped out by the pandemic, Llanfair returned to action in July 2021 and played a series of friendlies last season.
Now they feel it is time to join a competitive league.
Llanfair hold open training sessions every THURSDAY at the Recreation Ground between 6.30 and 8 pm.
Team captain and secretary Rachel Evans said: “With our growing squad and our aim of joining the league we are seeking a manager for the following:
• Help select the squad for games
• Help with team tactics
• Help with motivation and team talks
• Help set up for games and training
• Support the coach with drills in training
• Be the lead on the COMET App for games
• Give the players advice on performance, skills and improvements
• Attend committee meetings and support the club with ground maintenance and fundraising events
Prior experience in football, either playing coaching or managing would be desirable. The chosen candidate will be sent on an FAW Football leaders course provided by the club.
Rachel added: “We have a great team of ladies – this is the first time Llanfairfechan will have a women’s team in a NWWFL league, a great opportunity for someone to gain experience and support our ladies team making this jump.”
