North Wales League Divisions Three and Four – Corwen hit top spot, ton for Pwllheli’s Cowper

NORTH WALES LEAGUE DIVISION THREE REPORTS AND TABLE – JULY 2

Abergele 2nd XI (2) 100-10 Mynydd Isa & Maeshafn 1st XI (13) 161-5

A productive and unbroken sixth-wicket stand between Tom Hall (44 no) and Prasad Jadhav (36 no) ensured Mynydd Isa and Maeshafn set a winning score at Pentre Mawr Park.

Skipper Stuart Applewhite also made 37 as the visitors posted 161-5 off 40 overs after electing to bat.

Abergele seconds could only manage 100 exactly in reply, Dylan Davies 33, Sivaraman Seramanperuman topping the away bowling with 4-27.

Hall completed a good match with 2-18, Jadhav scooping 2-23.

Bethesda 2nd XI (1) 116-9 Pontblyddyn 2nd XI (14) 117-3

Captain Richard Davies led the way with 58 not out as leaders Pont seconds triumphed by seven wickets at Parc Villa.

Bethesda were put in and restricted to 116-9 off 40, Jason Parry 39, Ed Crawford nabbing 3-33, Ryan White 2-15 and Ioan Jones 2-16 for Pont.

The away side made it to 117-3 in 28.5 overs to complete a 14-1 points victory, Gethin Thomas (28) providing good support for opener Davies.

Brymbo 2nd XI (15) 42-0 Connah’s Quay 2nd XI (0) 39-10

Wayne Smith captured 6-24 and Jordan Williams 4-13 as Brymbo seconds obliterated the away batting for just 39 runs.

All that after the Quay won the toss and chose to bat!

Title hopefuls Brymbo cruised to 42-0 in 9.4 overs, skipper George Bourne 22 no.

Denbigh 2nd XI (13) 226-5 Pwllheli 2nd XI (2) 224-7

In contrast to the rest of the division, a couple of high scores made up the battle between Denbigh seconds and Pwllheli seconds at Ystrad Road.

Ben Cowper finished up 100 not out as Pwll set a fine total of 224-7 off 40 overs, Gareth Rhys Morgan 44 and captain Dyfed Williams 32.

In response, Denbigh made it to 226-5 with four balls remaining to clinch a five-wicket win.

Chris Brown struck 83 and Simon Williams 75, the pair sharing a stand of 177 for the second wicket, Cowper completing a marvellous personal performance with 4-27.

Corwen (15) 211-6 Hawarden Park 3rd XI (0) 70-9

A 15-point haul for Corwen put them top of Division Four at the expense of long-time leaders Llandudno seconds.

Taking on Hawarden thirds last Saturday, the Edeyrnion hosts piled up 211-6, Tom King with 59, Nathan Aldridge 52 and Mark Wyeth 31 no, Jo Robinson snaring 2-30 for the visitors.

Park’s reply ended on 70, Simon Harrison 2-6, Aldridge 2-12 and William Pooler 2-20.

Dolgellau 2nd XI (1) 61-10 Halkyn 2nd XI (14) 62-2

Gareth Thomas collected 3-5 and Ciaran Sweeney 3-9 as Halkyn seconds dismissed hosts Dolgellau seconds for just 61, skipper Richard Rees making a spirited 30.

Halkyn needed just 8.2 overs to make a winning 62-2, Gareth Hughes 40 not out.
