Can anyone help Rhuddlan Town? Manager and new players are desperately needed

Rhuddlan Town FC face the possibility of folding unless they can attract a manager and new players.

The club has announced on social media that personnel numbers are so low there is a real chance they will not compete in the 2022-23 campaign.

Since revealing its plight, Rhuddlan has received a lot of encouraging support, so the situation looks better than it was, but still plenty of fresh blood is required to make the club viable.

Rhuddlan were the last champions of the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division in 2019-20.

Last season saw the club finish eighth in the new tier 4 North Wales Coast East League Premier.

It was a more than respectable performance considering the number of injuries, departures and player unavailability problems they faced over the season.

Former manager Wayne Hughes, who is still actively involved with the club, said: “The club is on the verge of folding unless we manage to bring some players in within the next week or two.

“We are still without a manager, which has made it difficult to bring in new players. If anyone is interested in joining Rhuddlan Town FC then please get in touch with the club.”

Although Rhuddlan Town has a proud past, the present club was restarted as recently as 2017-18, with Wayne Hughes key in the launch.

In his first season at the helm, Rhuddlan lifted the REM Jones Cup and finished fourth in Vale of Clwyd and Conwy Division One.

Town were promoted to the Premier Division and finished sixth in 2018-19.

Things got a lot better in 2019-20, with Rhuddlan scooping the Premier title, as they had when the league was first born in 2011-12 after replacing the Clwyd League.
