Magnificent news for Bodedern Athletic – the dynamic duo are staying.

Marc “Logs” Evans and Asa Thomas – who scored a phenomenal 126 goals between them last season – have re-signed at Cae Ty Cristion.

Athletic manager Ricky Williams announced the good news – and plenty more on top – this week.

Evans blasted 68 goals and Thomas 58 across all competitions as Boded lifted the tier 4 North Wales Coast League West Premier Division title after going 27 matches unbeaten, winning 26, and only lost their last game when the championship was already in the bag.

Thomas notched 40 league goals and Evans 38 in an astonishing season for the pair.

Ricky said: “Not much more I can say about Logs. He’s been there and done it every season since being that 15 year old lad I signed for the George all them years ago; 68 goals last season and his partnership with Asa was breathtaking.

Casey Boylan (far left) wins a header for Bodedern Athletic

”Asa signed for us last season and was everything we had hoped for. He brings goals to a team – it’s as simple as that as we saw with his 58 goals.

“A superb finisher as we knew but his intelligence when on the ball is second to none. He can pick a pass out of nothing. Him and Logs are back together for a crack at Tier 3…🔥🔥.”

Of course two players do not make a team and what a side Bodedern proved to be throughout the season.

Also committed for next term from the 2021-22 squad are Jordie Murphy, Casey Boylan, Jordan Taylor, goalkeeper Carl Jones, James McMinimee and Ry Lees.

More news is due soon.

Ricky added: “Jordie joined us at the start of last season and was great, quick, skillful and can beat his man with ease. He proved to be a great signing. He’s another who’s great in the dressing room even though he’s a big United fan. I thought he and Asa best be together as they love winding one another up.”

“Casey is a manager’s dream, never any nonsense from him and is a great leader.

“He has the respect of myself and the lads.

Jordan Taylor (green) puts in a tackle

“Last season he left his midfield role to play as a centre half and he’s been superb. Big, strong and reads the game very well. Can also play out from the back that suits our game.

“Jordan returns again and can play anywhere, including in goal, as we saw at the back end of the season. He also had a change in position last season and took it in his stride.

Carl Jones

“He’s quick, strong and loves a tackle. Jordan Taylor is another who will thrive in tier 3.

”Stumpy (Carl Jones) returned last summer and was outstanding last season. He made some vital saves over the course of the campaign. He’s big, commanding and can also play from the back. He’ll be a big player next season no doubt about it.

James McMinimee (left)

“James re-signs again for the Green Army. He’s as loyal as they come. A nightmare to play against, tenacious, fit and never gives you a minute’s peace. Another good lad to have in the dressing room bar his moaning 😂…

Ryan Lees (green) on the ball

“We knew at the start of last season we had signed a player in Ry Lees but he went on to dominate games for us, big, strong, powerful and loves a tackle. He’s a manager’s dream in the centre of the park.”
