Wales NC North claim their first win – but lose second T20

STAFFORDSHIRE CCC 130-5 (20) WALES NC NORTH 131-6 (19.5)

Menai Bridge skipper Gethin Roberts claimed an excellent 3-23 as Wales NC North celebrated their first win in the opening T20 of today’s play in Staffordshire.

Put into bat at Milford Hall, Staffs’ senior development squad posted 130-5, Peter Wilshaw (41) and Tom Moulton (37) putting on 67 for the first wicket.

Bridge all-rounder Roberts scooped his three wickets off four overs, while there was a victim apiece for Danny Ryan of St Asaph and Denbigh’s Harrison Jones.

Wales NC North slumped to 32-3 and 80-6 in reply, but Mathew Ryan (37 not out) and Llay’s Joe Howell (19 no) led the visitors to victory with a ball to spare thanks to an unbroken stand of 51.

Sam Rimmington earlier made 20 opening the innings and Daniel Williams added 18.

Jack Redman claimed an outstanding 3-6 off four overs for the hosts, but the travellers took the four-wicket win.

GAME TWO

STAFFORDSHIRE CCC 125-4 (19.3) WALES NC NORTH 122-6 (20)

In the second T20, Wales were put in and set 122-6, Matthew Humphreys of Mochdre the star man with 43 not out.

Daniel Williams made 18, skipper Will Ryan 14, Harrison Jones 13 and Matt Ryan 12.

Staffs made it to a winning 125-4 in the final over with three balls remaining, Peter Wilshaw 64 not out and Ibbadat Thaman 43 putting on 77 for the second wicket.

Gresford’s Chris Ellwood took three quick wickets in the closing overs, finishing with 3-18, while debutant Owen Davies of Mochdre picked up 1-14.
