Fifteen-year-old sensation breaks cricket club’s senior batting record

A 15-year-old cricketing sensation has made a record first team score for his senior club.

Will Norman’s scintillating 146 for Buckley in Saturday’s North Wales League Division One encounter with Dolgellau has been confirmed as a club 1st XI highest ever innings.

Daz Wilcock scored 152 not out for Bucks in 2015, but was representing the second team.

Buckley joined the North Wales League in 2003.

Will, an all-rounder, is a Wales Under-16 international and comes from a renowned cricketing family.

Mum Lucy is Buckley CC secretary and vice-chairwoman of the North Wales League, brother Joe, 19, played at Lane End until 2019, but is now a front-line bowler in the Premier Division for Brymbo, while dad John still plays occasionally for Bucks.

Will is sure to have had mixed feelings about yesterday’s game with Dolgellau, as he scored a magical, record-breaking century but his team lost the contest.

The teenage opener was ninth out with Bucks in sight of victory. Will was run out attempting a second leaving the hosts 212-9, chasing 236.

The home side eventually finished 217-9, missing out 11-4 on points.

Will’s 146 came off 142 balls and included 14 fours.

He made his first team debut in 2018 and has already scored 914 league runs for the side, his previous best 1st XI knocks before Saturday being 66 and 61 last season.

Will had also made a ton for the 3rd XI, notching 121 v Connah’s Quay 3rd XI in 2021.

He has already scooped 73 league wickets for the first team.
