North Wales Coast West Division One Cup semi-final (after extra time)

Joe Todd’s 28th goal of the season clinched a thrilling extra time victory for Bethesda, who now meet Llannerchymedd in the Division One Cup final at Lon Groes, Gaerwen, on Friday night (May 27).

However, how the tie was won doesn’t tell half the story of what went on before.

Bethesda looked to be coasting at three goals up in the second half, only for Caergybi to produce a superb fightback to draw level and force an added half-hour.

Scott Hughes scored the only goal of the first half, putting Athletic 1-0 in front in the 24th minute.

Dean Redmond doubled the lead four minutes into the second half and Hughes struck again on 58 to complete his brace.

Caergybi then decided they did not want their season to finish just yet and began their recovery mission when Louis Chapman notched his 50th goal of the campaign on the hour – a fantastic achievement for the 21-year-old.

Myles Jones cut the deficit to one in the 63rd minute, then when Louis Chapman made it 3-3 on 80, it was anyone’s tie.

Just one more goal was to come and it arrived in the fifth minute of extra time, the outstanding Todd heading home for Mark Hughes’ men.

What a game! Huge credit to both sides.
