Four goals from master marksman Marc Evans sent Bodedern through to the Premier Division Cup Final and a meeting with Bangor 1876 at Cemaes Bay on Thursday evening.

Athletic trailed 1-0 at half time today, but a quadruple from Evans turned the tables and boosted the striker’s goals tally for the season to a phenomenal 68 in all competitions.

Despite having a number of key players missing, and fielding stand-in keeper Jordan Taylor between the sticks, North Wales Coast West Premier Division champions Boded still had what was needed to overcome a team always difficult to beat at Ffordd Padarn.

And it was Llanberis who led at the break, Gethin Maxwell scoring with a 43rd minute header.

Overall, the tie had been pretty even and the Darans will have been delighted to go in with the advantage.

The second half was a different story, Evans making it one apiece within a minute of the restart.

Further strikes on 52, 62 and 92 from the former Rhyl front man sealed it for the islanders.

Next comes the final against Bangor 1876, Boded’s only serious challengers for the title this season.

Ricky Williams’ men defeated 1876 3-2 at home last November, becoming the first team to beat them in a league game, but Bangor won the return at Treborth 3-1 in the final match of the campaign.

By that time Boded had already clinched the title and were undefeated all season in 27 league outings.

After today’s win over Llanberis, Bodedern manager Williams said: “Great win for us today with so many missing. I thought the first 45 minutes were pretty even but Llanberis went ahead just before the half from a header.

“Second half we took over and deservedly booked our place in the final as Marc Evans grabbed 4 goals. We’ll now look forward to a date with 1876 on Thursday night.”
