Dire day for North Wales teams in the Liverpool and District Cricket Competition

LIVERPOOL AND DISTRICT COMPETITION (MAY 14)

Overall, it was a pretty poor day for North Wales teams in the Liverpool and District Cricket Competition.

1ST XI FIRST DIVISION

Ainsdale (9) 251-4 dec Northop Hall (5) 165-8
A maiden first team half century from youngster Joshua Leach was the highpoint of a losing draw for Northop Hall.
Put into bat, Ainsdale amassed 251-4 declared off 53.3 overs, openers Luke Smith and Stephen Lucas posting 74 and 66 respectively, Mark Lucas 50.
Will Edwards took 2-55 and Joshua Leach 2-84 for the visitors.
In reply, Hall held on for the draw at 165-8 off 50, Leach 53 not out, Waqar Khan 37 and Carwyn Johnson 33.

Rainford (25) 239-9 dec Colwyn Bay (7) 184-10
Bay’s winning start to the campaign came to an abrupt end at Rainford.
Invited to bat, the Merseysiders were left floundering on 4-3, Patrick Glover claiming all three wickets in a lively opening spell.
Despite a steadying of the ship, the hosts continued to struggle and were 135-9 when the match turned.
Last pair Liam Gaskell (84 no) and William Curran (12 no) put on an unbroken 104 for the 10th wicket, leaving Rainford a fair more healthy 239-9 declared at the end of 55 overs.
Glover finished on 4-30 for the visitors.
Bay were bowled out for 184, Sion Morris top-scoring with 51, Zack Gidlow 35 and Ryan Holtby 30 no, John Dotters 5-43 and Andrew Davies 4-56 for the St Helens area hosts.

1ST XI SECOND DIVISION

Southport Trinity (25) 123-1 Prestatyn (1) 119-10
After opting to bat, Prestatyn were dismissed cheaply for 119, Leo Teal 26 and Salman Ahmed 4-11 off 11 for the hosts.
Trinity cruised to 123-1 off 25.3, Ahmed 79 no.

2ND XI PREMIER DIVISION

Colwyn Bay (25) 147-2 Sefton Park (4) 145-10
Bay seconds were the only North Wales senior side in the Liverpool Comp to win on Saturday.
They dismissed Sefton Park for 145, Shay Williams 3-8 and Shaun Davies 3-20 for the hosts.
Bay eased to 147-2 for an eight-wicket triumph, Shaun Davies 54, Sam Bright 34 no.

2ND XI FIRST DIVISION

Northop Hall (3) 68-10 Southport Trinity (25) 205-6 dec
Inserted by the opposition, Trinity set 205-6 declared, Will Marsh hitting 65, Liam Evans-Ford taking 3-55 for the Flintshire hosts.
The Hall were rolled over for just 68, Mike Sears 5-43, Michael Roberti 4-23.

2ND XI SECOND DIVISION

Prestatyn (2) 58-10 Ainsdale (25) 175-5 dec
Put in, Ainsdale seconds declared on 175-5 after 33 overs, Steven Edwards 2-28 for the hosts, who were then blown away for 58, Alex Rigby 5-18, Adam Friar 4-13.
