CRICKET: Liverpool and District Competition – Colwyn Bay blitz their way to 10-wicket victory

LIVERPOOL AND DISTRICT COMPETITION – MAY 23

1ST XI FIRST DIVISION

Colwyn Bay 1st XI (20) 30-0 Ainsdale 1st XI (0) 27-10

Jack Parry picked up his third five-for in five league matches this season as Colwyn Bay dished out a thumping 10-wicket whipping of Ainsdale.
Put into bat, the visitors were all back in the hutch for a paltry 27 off just 17.4 overs, Parry taking 5-14 off nine, Charlie Collins grabbing 4-9 from 4.4.
Bay needed just 6.2 overs to reach a winning 30-0, Zack Gidlow and Dan Russell the unbeaten pair ensuring the hosts took a 20-0 verdict.

Southport and Birkdale 1st XI (24) 217-6 dec Northop Hall (6) 178-10

Northop Hall’s formidable bowling attack were unable to prevent Southport and Birkdale building up a winning score at the County Cricket Ground.
Winning the toss and choosing first knock, the hosts posted 217-6 declared off 55 overs, opener Raunak Roy best with 81.
James Hurlin returned top figures of 4-75 off 20 for the North Wales side.
In response, Hall were well placed on 125-2 before wickets began to fall regularly and they ended up 178 all out.
Christian Jardine headed the batting chart with 73, Jac Kennedy adding 38 and Matthew Jones 30,
Bobby Wincer starred with 5-68 for the home side, who triumphed by 39 runs and a 24-6 points verdict.

1ST XI SECOND DIVISION

Prestatyn 1st XI (0) 61-10 Wavertree 1st XI (20) 62-1

Invited to bat, Prestatyn slumped to a disastrous 61 all out at Beach Close, Ben Smith 5-21 and Anvarsha Vahid 5-37 for the Liverpool visitors.
Wavertree then eased to 62-1 off 52-1 to seal a 20-0 points decision, Kieron New taking the sole wicket to fall.

2ND X1 PREMIER DIVISION

Ormskirk 2nd XI (25) 54-0 Colwyn Bay 2nd XI (0) 51-10

Not a great day for Bay, who chose to bat and were blown away for just 51 in 21 overs, Jaiveer Tomar (18) the only double-figure contributor.
Martyn Farrell shone with 6-9 off 11 for Ormskirk, who then coasted to 54-0 off nine.

2ND XI SECOND DIVISION

Northop Hall 2nd XI (25) 72-1 Prestatyn 2nd XI (0) 70-10

Matthew Edwards grabbed 3-10, Oliver Jenkins 2-2 and Gethin Owens 2-21 as Northop Hall seconds dismissed their fellow North Wales side for just 70, then cruised to 72-1 in 18.2 overs, opener Owen Skillander 36 not out. Points: 25-0 to Northop Hall 2nd XI.
