Sam Jones netted five times as Halkyn and Flint Mountain recorded the win which was to seal them second place in the Premier and promotion to Tier 3 Ardal North West next season.

With champions Greenfield unable to go up due to ground criteria issues, which the club plans to remedy next season, the runners-up spot is sufficient for elevation to the next level – provided the team meets the requirements.

As Mountain will be ground-sharing with Cymru Premier club Flint Town United next season, this should present no problems. Full confirmation is awaited, as well as news on whether the club will be changing its name.

Mountain have attained a Tier 3 licence and now just need an assurance from the Ardal Northern League of acceptance.

FC Queen’s Park’s 5-1 loss at Lex XI on Tuesday means no-one can deny Halkyn and Flint Mountain second spot.

The prolific Jones led the charge on Saturday, Mountain’s first game at their new home, netting on 17, 29, 36, 37 and 53 minutes.

Charlie Hughes scored on 11 and 50 minutes and substitute Kyle Macfarlane completed the rout with a great header after 66.

Mountain still have away games against Coedpoeth United (May 25) and Cefn Mawr Rangers (May 28) to play.
