Bodedern may have won the league title in scintillating style, but they haven’t finished pursuing trophies yet.
Athletic stormed into the Premier Division Cup semi-finals tonight with a huge win at dark horses Glantraeth.
Leading the way was the magnificent Marc Evans, who plundered another hat-trick to reach 64 goals in all competitions this season.
Evans struck first in the ninth minute against one of his former clubs, and it stayed 1-0 to the Tier 4 North Wales Coast West Premier Division champions up to half time.
After the break the floodgates opened. Sam Gregson made it 2-0 with a 49th minute net-finder and a Callum Hughes own goal soon added to Glantraeth’s woes.
Justin Williams popped up on the scoresheet in the 66th minute, then Evans added two more before the end.
Bodedern completed a FIFTH win of the season over Penrhyndeudraeth in the Premier Division Cup first round on Saturday.
With two previous league victories over the Cockles (both 2-1) and a 2-1 in the Intermediate Challenge Cup and 7-0 caning in the FAW Amateur Trophy, Ricky Williams’ side made it a whitewash over the Maes-y-Parc men, but four of the games have been pretty close and Athletic were made to work hard for their reward.
Saturday’s tie saw Ry Lees open the scoring before Asa Thomas hit the target on 14 minutes with his 58th of the season.
Cai Henshaw reduced the deficit before the interval, but an own goal from visiting keeper Robert Watson on 62 minutes sealed an Anglesey triumph.
