Llannerchymedd need to break mini-hoodoo to reach Division One Cup final

CPD Llannerchymedd’s chase for a double continues on Friday night when they host close rivals Talysarn Celts in the North Wales Coast West Division One League Cup semi-final (6.30 pm).

Already crowned Division One champions, Meirion Grieves and Iwan Williams’ side face a tough test in their bid to reach the final.

Talysarn are third in the table and won 3-1 at Tan Parc in a league clash early in the 2021-22 season before being held 1-1 by Medd on May 4, a game which saw the Anglesey side clinch the title.

Celts also beat Llannerchymedd 3-2 in the NWCFA Junior Cup quarter-finals in February, so in fact the islanders are yet to defeat the Nantlle Valley outfit this campaign.

Talysarn have lost just one of their last 18 matches and include in their ranks the prolific Luke Baum, scorer of 49 goals in all competitions this season.

Medd are undefeated in 12, their last loss being that Junior Cup reverse to Celts in February.

The green and blacks reached the last four with a 2-1 win at Llanfairpwll on Saturday.

Gwion Thomas struck twice to move onto 26 for the season, including a stoppage time penalty to win the tie.

Jay Finter replied for Pwll from the spot.

Talysarn made the semis after beating Waunfawr on penalties after a 3-3 draw last Friday.

Also this Friday, Bethesda Athletic are home Cemaes Bay in a League Cup quarter-final match.
