Several North Wales Road Runners have had their 2022 Welsh performance rankings updated following recent results.
These include the Easter 5k Dash in Llandudno on April 16 and Mid Cheshire 5k race on April 29, plus Track and Field events. Some can now claim many top placings, plus some Welsh records!
The nationally acclaimed Run Britain rankings website, and the Power of 10 site, which both record race timings and performance details from thousands of club athletes competing in varied certified events across the country have updated current Welsh ratings, and include new details for 11 NWRRC athletes.
They confirm two top female club runners Cheryl Frost (22.36) and Kay Hatton (23.03) are ranked 3rd and 4th in their respective FV55 age category following performances at the Easter 5k Dash, and Carla Green is placed No 2 in her FV50 cat in 21.12 from the same event.
In addition, Martin Green (16.35), is ranked as 2nd MV45, and Will Williams is now rated 9th in the same cat in (18.37), with Mark Jessett (16.48) 1st in the MV35‘s.
Steve Roberts (20.48) is 5th in his MV55 cat. And following the recent Mid Cheshire Spring 5k race, Richard Eccles (17.25) is 2nd MV55, with Jon Evans (20.02) now 4th in the same age cat. Many of these records also included great new PB’s.
* Welsh Masters and the Power of 10 website have additionally updated their Indoor Track and Field Rankings to indicate NWRRC master veteran sprinters Don Hale (M65) and Michael (Pat) Finney (M60) are now Welsh record holders for their respective ages at 600m (2.11.38) and (2.24.96). This result at Sportcity, Manchester, has also maintained both runners’ rankings as No 1 in Wales at this unusual distance.
Welsh Masters have also confirmed that Don is ranked 2nd in his MV65 age cat for the 60m (11.15 secs), and 2nd in the 200m (36.55). The 60m race was held at Deeside on 20th February, with the other two races held at Sportcity on 5th March, with PBs recorded in all three events as part of North Wales Indoor Championship events.
And the latter 600m dash time was confirmed as a new Welsh Masters record this week by WM director Chris Pruski, who told Don: “Records set anywhere in the world are considered as WMAL records, and as for the 600m, whilst not a usual distance, we do include 300m, so a precedent is set, so I will be including your 600m record.”
And club colleague Finnie, who also recorded three new Indoor T&F PB’s, was delighted to learn that he is currently ranked No 1 in Wales in his MV60 cat following his three excellent indoor performances at Sport City in March for the 200m (37.41), 600m (2.24.96), and 3rd for his age cat in Wales for the 60m (11.35).
