Treble for the Mally and Comrades also scoop some well-deserved silverware

Andy Colville’s FC Mally made it three trophies from as many competitions as they also claimed a second cup final victory over Y Clwb this season.

The Junction side will complete a fourth quadruple in their short history if they beat Conwy Comrades in the Lee Jones Cup final next weekend.

Today’s Premier Cup final at Conwy Borough saw Mally come up against an Y Clwb outfit they had outscored 4-1 in the NWCFA Sunday Challenge Cup final a fortnight earlier.

The Glan Conwy side started the better and Tommy Williams set up Kyle Kelly to put them 1-0 ahead in the fifth minute.

Mally stepped it up and were level when awarded a penalty and Benn Lundstram converted for 1-1.

Worrying moments for the men in pink were to follow when midway through the first half manager Andy Colville became unwell which resulted in the game being stopped.

Heat exhaustion was troubling the Mally boss which resulted in him having to take shelter and re-hydrate.

Conor Davies calmed the nerves when he thumped home a header at the back post, showing brilliant desire to make sure he was there to nod in. Half-time: 2-1.

With the gaffer unwell, the half time talk came from captain Shaheen Ahmed, as well as experienced player Ricky Jones who knew this final was still very much in the balance and a fast start was key to making the day theirs.

With manager Colville returning to full health he was able to take his place back in the dugout and was delighted to see captain fantastic Ahmed score with a brilliant header to make it 3-1.

Lee Ellis was introduced and immediately made an impact when Mally were awarded their second penalty of the afternoon.

Ellis stepped up to coolly dink it down the middle to put the game to bed at 4-1.

Benn Lundstram put the icing on the cake when he headed home his 28th goal of the season after a tremendous delivery from Adam Hold.

After the game manager Colville thanked club founder Lynne Plumb for her quick work to help him when he became unwell. He also wanted to say massive congratulations to his players for yet another great performance on a hot day. The hard work which saw his side come out on top and lift the trophy was a brilliant effort and achievement.

Quoted after the final whistle Andy said: “No better feeling than winning trophies with your mates; enjoy tonight but next week will complete the set. The crowd was brilliant today, great to see so many people enjoying the game I love.

“Massive congratulations to Dan Parry (Y Clwb) and his side for what they achieved in their first season to make 2 finals, unfortunately just falling short in both.“

Next Sunday 11 am at Pen, Mally look to complete an amazing quad when they take on Conwy Comrades in what is likely to be a fantastic Lee Jones Cup final.

Matty Perez Cup Final

Second-half substitute Jamie Haggas notched a hat-trick to ensure Conwy Comrades ran out resounding winners of the Matty Perez Cup.

The Conwy side led 3-1 at half time and then made sure they had a trophy to celebrate by adding four more goals after the break.

Star man Haggas’ treble pushed him up to 27 goals for the season.

The only man above him in the league goals chart is Mally’s Benn Lundstram on 28. And those two will come up against one another next Sunday when Mally and Comrades clash in the Lee Jones Cup Final.

Added to three goals from Haggas was a Lee Stokes double, plus singles from Joe Carey and Logan Williams.

Dean Hughes and Thomas Jones replied for Rhyl side Royal Oak.
