Anglesey-based cricketer Owen Reilly will never forget the day he took five wickets at Lord’s.

The Bangor CC pace bowler picked up a magnificent 5-31 from 9.3 overs representing Wales against the MCC at cricket’s HQ on Thursday.

Also in the side from North Wales were Mochdre skipper and all-rounder Matty Humphreys and ex-Llandudno captain and current fast bowler for The Oval club Jack Rimmington.

Reilly, 28, from Holyhead, removed batsmen 3, 4, 5 and 6 before also dismissing the last man in his outstanding spell.

Wearing No 67 on the back of his shirt, the right-arm quickie had three of his victims caught and clean bowled the other two.

Reilly began his senior cricket days at Holyhead/Anglesey Aluminium and went on to Pwllheli before joining Bangor in 2019.

He has also captained Rydal Penrhos and represented Wales Under-18’s.

In this week’s 50-over encounter, MCC, full name Marylebone Cricket Club, batted first and were all out for 226 in the 50th, Tom Nicoll top-scoring with 40.

Opening bowler Rimmington produced eight overs and finished with 0-36.

In reply, Wales were bowled out for 143 in 42.2 overs, Humphreys making 22 opening the batting.

Right-arm spinner Steven Reingold, who has played for Glamorgan, claimed 4-7 off 7.2 overs for the hosts.

It was the 16th time Wales had played at Lord’s and the first since a five-wicket defeat to MCC in 2016.⁣
