Meet Llandudno Ladies’ exciting new signing!

A big North Wales women’s football welcome to Susie James

She is no Ordinary Joanne!

Llandudno’s new signing Susie James gets her kicks from tackling much more hair-raising activities than mere football!

But it is the round ball game that will be a major focus for her in the rest of the current season as she joins a Llandudno squad going for the tier 2 Genero Adran North title.

She told Grassroots North Wales “Joining the team will allow me to use my leadership qualities, experience, and knowledge of the game to help the team progress.

“I have good overall fitness levels and this plays in my favour when coming up against the stronger teams in the league.

“In my teenage years, I played for my local town Bromsgrove Town FC, where I played as a striker and I was captain.

“After that, I played for Birmingham City Ladies Academy, where I played mostly in midfield but also up front.

“At college, while I studied sport and exercise science I played for the college netball and football team.”

Susie, 27, made her Tudno debut as a late substitute in Tuesday’s 14-0 win over Denbigh Town Ladies. She is a teacher of PE, geography and outdoor education.

She added: “Prior to teaching, I worked as a mountain leader and rock-climbing instructor.

“I have led big cycling expeditions from John O’Groats to Land’s End and in Ireland from coast to coast. I am a black belt in Ju-Jitsu, a PADI diving instructor, and a qualified sports massage therapist.

“At school, I was a sports ambassador and I played for the girl’s football and netball teams.

“My biggest sporting achievement, although it is not football-related is summitting the highest mountain in Europe (Mont Blanc).”
