Leaders Holywell were beaten for the first time this season, their 13-match undefeated run shattered at second-place Ruthin.

Alun Vaughan-Evans edged the hosts in front on 16 minutes, only for Kyle Wilkes to level after 20.

At 1-1, Ruthin’s Dan Goldston was injured and replaced by Sean Kell in goal.

In a stormy encounter littered with cautions, Aidan Bell received a red card for Holywell in the 28th minute.

The visitors had to contend with their nearest rivals for more than an hour with 10 men and it all took its toll on the Wellmen in the second half.

Sion Davies made it 2-1 on 54 minutes, Iorwerth Jones delivered number three for the hosts after 62 and Robbie Williams added a fourth on 69.

Brady McGilloway, Matthew Wardell and Dylan O’Shaughnessy provided the first-half goals which booked the points for the Wingmakers.

Gresford Athletic Reserves 1 Chirk AAA Reserves 2

A great away win for Chirk as they leapfrogged a good Gresford team into third place.

The blustery conditions made it a game of two halves with Chirk on the front foot in the opening period to lead 2-0 at the break courtesy of goals from Toby Nash, after great work from Jake Jones, and Tom Faithfull.

Gresford came storming back in the second half and Chirk defended in masses to keep them out. And although the home side pulled a goal back through a Will Roberts penalty, Chirk hung on to clinch victory.

Gresford had two players sent off in injury time when Chirk broke and both Harvey Ellis and goalkeeper Josh Leach were shown red during an incident where young Colliers striker Asa Riley was brought down.
