Ruthin and Denbigh set to clash in Veterans Cup derby tussle this evening

NORTH EAST WALES FA VETS CUP ROUND ONE
Ruthin Town Vets and Denbigh Wanderers clash in a Vale of Clwyd derby in the North East Wales FA Veterans Cup first round at the Memorial Playing Fields tonight (Wednesday, February 2, ko 7 pm).
Unbeaten this season, Ruthin play in the North East Wales League Vets Premier Division, while neighbours Denbigh lie second in Division One.
The teams last met in two-legged friendlies back in May and June 2021.
The first game ended 1-1 and the second went Ruthin’s way 6-0.
Sunday’s first round ties

Mochdre Vets celebrated their first-ever win when they defeated Point of Ayr 5-3 in extra time.
Joe Drawbridge’s Mochdre side went two-up, the Colliers halved the deficit, the visitors made it 3-1 and Point then netted twice to force an added half-hour.
Martin Anderson delivered a double in the second period to send Mochdre through just as penalties were looming.
In what was a fiery game, Chris Patrick (2) and Chris Berrington were also on target for the winners.
Connah’s Quay Nomads Vets trailed 1-0 at half time to Mynydd Isa Spartans, but goals in the second period from Tommy Leonard and Shaun Beck booked the Deesiders a place in the next round.
Dave Brereton and Lewis Norman were on the mark in Holt and Farndon’s 2-1 success over Buckley.
