NFA stretched their winning run to nine in league and cup with a great victory at tier 2 Airbus.

This NEWFA Cup tie, played on grass at the Hollingworth Group Stadium in Broughton, brought a welcome break from the league for the Rhyl-based visitors.

NFA came out of the blocks quickly and got into their slick passing game. This was rewarded in the fifth minute when a through ball by Georgia Spibey was latched onto by Emily Jones and she rifled a shot into the top left-hand corner, giving keeper Ceri Evans no chance.

Airbus tried to impose their passing style on the match but NFA were harassing them all over the pitch and were strong in the tackle, winning back possession quickly.

On 12 minutes a quick long throw by Spibey was controlled by Sade Benjamin, who fed in Amy Webster and she fired in to make it 2-0.

Airbus were awarded a penalty but the kick hit the upright.

NFA continued to create chances and but for the crossbar, Webster would have got her second.

Some good goalkeeping from Wingmakers stopper Evans kept the score down to 2-0 at half time.

The second half started the same as the first and NFA moved the ball quickly and precisely from keeper through defence to midfield and up to the strikers.

In the 64th minute NFA won a corner and this was once again played in with quality by Rachel Lloyd, and when the ball broke in the box, Ashleigh Mills was there to fire home.

That was the end of the scoring but the performance was excellent from every single player.

NFA manager Andy Lloyd said: “Thanks to Airbus for their hospitality today and we wish them all the best for the rest of the season.”
