A player rated as one of North Wales’ best midfielders of recent seasons has been signed by Sunday League giants FC Mally.
Gethin Maxwell, 29, has joined the Llandudno Junction based side, who are chasing a fourth quadruple in their glorious short history.
Maxwell began his career at Chester City before studying at Cardiff University, where he played for Cardiff Met. He also had Welsh Schools and Wales Colleges experience.
After leaving Chester, Maxwell landed at then tier 3 club Llanberis.
In 2016-17, he was captain of Warren Gibbs’ Glantraeth side which scooped the Welsh Alliance League title by 16 points and also lifted the Cookson Cup.
Maxwell later switched to Conwy Borough.
A strong ball-playing midfielder who has a superb engine, Maxwell will only add class and quality to a Mally midfield which has also recruited local talents Allan Davies and Bry Roberts in recent days.
Mally manager Andy Colville said: “I’m very excited to have one of North Wales best midfielders committing to my already star-studded squad and it again proves in my January signings that we are going for the quad again.”
The Maes Derw side won Rhyl and District League quadruples in 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2018-19, having also landed a host of other trophies over the past few seasons.
This term they still have a chance of winning a highly competitive race for the title, on Sunday they reached the Lee Jones Cup Final, and they are also still in the NWCFA Sunday Challenge Cup and Premier Cup.
