FIXTURES AND PREVIEWS – RHYL AND DISTRICT SUNDAY FOOTBALL LEAGUE FOR JANUARY 30
Matty Perez Cup semi-finals (11 am kick-offs)
The Alex v Royal Oak
The Alex were unable to raise a side for their league clash at Royal Oak last weekend – hopefully they will have better luck on Sunday.
Oak won 5-1 at the Alex in a league fixture back in October.
Conwy Comrades v Six Bells
A place in the Matty Perez Cup final is up for grabs when in-form Comrades welcome Six Bells to Brookfield Drive, Colwyn Bay, LL28 4SW.
These two met as recently as last Sunday, Comrades beating Bells 7-2 in a league match which put the Conwy side top of the table.
The pair also met in the league last October and it ended Bells 1 Comrades 1.
Comrades’ on-fire Jamie Haggas will be looking to add to his season’s tally of 15 goals, while the Bells camp includes skipper and league top-scorer Macca Lewis on 16.
Lee Jones Cup semi final (11 am)
FC Mally v Bar Bow
Can cup kings Mally make it to another final?
The Junction side, who added quality signings Allan Davies and Bry Roberts to their squad this week, have to be favourites on current form with Bow losers of their last three games.
Andy Colville’s Mally are unbeaten in four and have one of the league’s most dynamic marksmen, 15-goal Benn Lundstram, in their ranks.
In a previous meeting back in October, Mally won 1-0 at Bow in a league tussle.
Rhyl and District Sunday League (11 am)
Millbank v Y Clwb
Talk about a six-pointer!
Second-place Millbank, 17 points from 9 games, take on Y Clwb, lying third with 16 points from 7 outings.
Millbank are very strong at home – undefeated in seven matches across all competitions.
However, Y Clwb from Glan Conwy have been better on their travels than they have at Cae Ffwt.
Could make for an interesting first contest of the season between these rivals in what is the only league game of the day.
