Nomads made it six straight league wins and returned to the Genero Adran North summit.

Airbus welcomed back skipper Abby Williams for her first start since September following a long-term injury, while the Quay were without livewire forward Francesca Scott, who had netted 16 goals in her previous seven appearances.

The visitors started the game keeping possession, which Airbus allowed them to do.

The game was being played in the Wingmakers’ half as Nomads kept a high line and moved the ball well from left to right.

After winning a corner on 10 minutes, as she has done a few times this season and for the second week in a row, Kirstie Kural curled a flag-kick straight into the back of the net to put the Deesiders ahead and record her 20th goal of the campaign.

The Quay forced many more corners during the first half hour which were all delivered expertly from Kural and also Jade Scott from the other side.

Free kicks and corners were causing problems for the Airbus defence but Nomads could not get on the end of one to increase the score line.

On the half hour mark, Airbus earned their first corner after winning the ball high from a Nomads goal-kick.

As the ball came into the box an Airbus player fell to the floor, resulting in a penalty which the visitors claimed was a strange decision with no Nomads player apparently within yards of her.

However, Tegan Hewitt stepped up for the spot-kick and fired it past Charlie Bolland for her 16th goal this term.

Nomads reacted well to this setback and kept up the pressure on the Airbus defence, feeding crosses, corners and through ball passes in an attempt to retake the lead.

The away side hit the post on two separate occasions before a tactical switch put Kylie Jones into the midfield and this made an instant impact just before half time.

From an Airbus goal-kick, Kylie Jones won a header in midfield and ran through one-on-one with the Airbus keeper before slotting past her.

Half-time: 1-2

The second half was dominated by the Nomads.

Constant away pressure paid off on the hour mark when Tamara Hamer’s cross flew in over the keeper to make it 3-1.
