Who have been the major hotshots of 2021-22 in North Wales football so far?

Here are the ones we’ve been able to compile, if readers know of anyone else playing senior football with 25 goals or above in all competitions, please let us know via email

Marc Evans (Bodedern Athletic) 39 GOALS

This prolific hitman has been unstoppable in front of goal on his return to Bodedern with 39 goals in just 23 appearances, including six hat-tricks.

Twice a Cymru Alliance title winner with Llandudno and Rhyl and having also played in the Welsh Premier for Porthmadog, the striker popularly known as “Logs” scored a club record 39 goals in his debut season for New Zealand’s Melville United in 2017/18.

Evans’ 73-goal partnership with Asa Thomas this term has helped Boded claim top spot in the tier 4 North Wales Coast West Premier Division with 14 straight wins and 22 victories in 23 matches overall.

Has formed one of the finest-ever strike forces seen in Anglesey football with Marc Evans this season.

Asa passed the 550 career goals mark in October at the age of just 30.

A phenomenal goal-getter over the years for the likes of Trearddur Bay United, Morawelon, Holyhead Town and Holyhead Gwelfor Athletic.

Louis Chapman (CPD Caergybi) 33 GOALS
(26 league; 7 cups)

Lethal Louis Chapman

This 20-year-old livewire is a relatively new name to the prolific goal scorers club, but he has been sensational this season.

Louis has scored 26 times in just 13 league outings for tier 5 North Wales Coast West Division One side Caergybi, and on 33 occasions in all across only 18 matches, including five in the Welsh Cup.

Nicky Williams (Chirk Town) 32 GOALS
(23 league; 9 cups)

Nicky Williams has been awesome for Chirk Town

This man is one of the true kings of goals in Wrexham area football.

Having won a host of trophies in his career, Nicky was a prolific net-finder for FC Cefn, Chirk AAA, Cefn Albion and Plas Madoc before joining Chirk Town this season.

He has banged in 32 goals so far for the Taverners.

In seasons gone by, he amassed 59 in all competitions for Cefn Albion’s 2014/15 quadruple-winners and notched more than 50 in 2017-18 for North East Wales League champions Plas Madoc, including TEN in one match.

Jonny Taylor (Llay Welfare) 30 GOALS
(23 league; 7 cups)

Jonny Taylor is playing a major part in Llay’s successful season so far

Highly-rated striker who represented Cefn Druids in the Welsh Premier and Europa League before a serious knee injury halted his progress.

Jonny has been on fire for Llay in the Ardal North West this season, scoring 30 club goals in total, including nine for the reserve side.

Keiye Williams (Sychdyn) 30 GOALS

Keiye Williams is one to watch out for

With 7 hat-tricks already to his credit in 2021-22, this 19-year-old is the joint youngest marksman in this list and a real player to watch.

His 26 league goals have come in just 12 games and the total of 30 in all competitions has been reached in only 17 matches.

Danny Warren (Mold Alexandra) 29 GOALS
(21 league; 8 cups)

Danny Warren

Danny has been a key man in Mold’s rise to the top of the tier 3 Ardal North West division.

At one stage, he hit three hat-tricks in a row in wins over Llanrwst, Nantlle Vale and Saltney Town.

Danny was also named Ardal North West Player of the Month for October and November.

Mike Chapman (Llanelwy Athletic – previously Llandudno Amateurs) 28 GOALS
(25 league; 3 cups)

With 28 goals in just 22 games this season, Mike continues to prove he is one of the very best net-finders in and around tier 4 level.

He netted 23 times for Llandudno Amateurs before recently switching to fellow North Wales Coast East Division One title contenders Llanelwy Athletic, for whom he grabbed four goals on his debut.

Adam Davies (Airbus UK Broughton) 26 GOALS

This 25-year-old front man has absolutely hit the ground running since joining Airbus last summer.

His 23 league goals have been a major factor in the Wingmakers bossing top spot in the JD Cymru North.

Davies is also the league’s top scorer.

Previously with Aberystwyth and Guilsfield, Adam is one of the players of the season so far and the striker playing at the highest level in this list.

Joel Rowlands (Llanelwy Athletic) 26 GOALS

Aged just 19, this lad’s stunning talent first emerged in senior football at Denbigh Development in the former Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League.

Now he is flourishing at Llanelwy, where his strike partnership with new signing Mike Chapman is a potential firecracker.

Not from North Wales but……

Josh Astley (Llanfair United) 39 GOALS

Llanfair are not a North Wales club, but they do play in Ardal North East which includes a few teams from the North.

This 22-year-old has been an absolute sensation this season with 39 club goals in all competitions.

His haul of 28 in league games has to be one of the best in the whole of Wales.

Llanfair are an excellent side who currently top their league and much of that has to be down to Josh, now the world’s most famous Astley ahead of Rick.
