Kevin Slattery wins North Wales Road Runners age percentage handicap performance race

Club chairman Kevin Slattery was the overall winner of the recent NWRRC club handicap age percentage analysis race, with Kay Hatton finishing in second place and Sean Butler third.

Kevin, aged 67, recorded an amazing 77.69%, with Kay (58) 75.64%, and Sean (63) 72.14%.

Run from Llandudno’s West Shore to the former WW2 gun site and back over a challenging four-mile plus course including a section of the Great Orme, the race attracted 22 club athletes, and statistician John Hatton compared the actual finishing times and the handicap time applied, against the ages, resulting in a percentage analysis of their performances.

It made for some very interesting comparison, with the initial race winner Steve Mason (47), the first man back, dropping down to fourth overall, and previous second place runner Steve Poupart (45) 63.94%, moving to 10th with Karl Morris (40) 62.14%, third overall, ending 13th based on John’s age statistics.

CANCELLATION OF NORTH WALES CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

*An urgent note from Bernie Jones (secretary of the NW cross country league).

Sadly, following the announcements by the Welsh Government that from Boxing Day only groups of 50 will be allowed to meet outdoors in Wales, we reluctantly have little alternative other than to cancel the Championships on 8 January.
We will see if we can rearrange them for later in the season, but a lot will depend on the Welsh Government. It is equally frustrating that the County Championships in England, and some not too far away from Wrexham, will still go ahead on the same day.
Anyone who has sent a cheque with their entry, please note that NO cheques have been banked so they will all be ripped up.
