Ardal North East – Chirk AAA make it a dynamic dozen as seven matches produce 40 goals

Invincible Chirk made it 12 victories out of 12 with a disciplined 3-0 win over a stubborn Bow Street side.

Chances were at a premium in the first half and the break came with no score.

Chirk started the second half with all guns firing and in the 51st minute they got the breakthrough.

Dale Davies got on the end of a great Adam Williams cross and his effort was deflected by Liam Sklenar past Llyr Hughes in the Bow Street goal to give Chirk the lead.

The Magpies continued to defend resolutely and it took the introduction of subs Jack Edwards and Lewis Clamp to unlock their defence.

It was Clamp who scored on 79 minutes to put Chirk further ahead.

Dale Davies put the matter to bed in the closing minutes when he deflected a Jake Ellison header past Hughes to seal Chirk the win and make it a maximum 36 points.

Man of the match was Ashton Williams.

Corwen completed the double over Kerry and moved into the top five.

Saturday’s game took place in awful weather conditions, with heavy rain and a chilly and strong wind blowing throughout.

Corwen’s early pressure came to fruition in the 11th minute when Kevin Day did well to beat the offside trap, run onto to a through ball from Tom Williams and score.

On the half-hour mark a low ball was collected by Kerry’s Charlie Mainwaring, who hit an angled shot forcing David Walsh to dive to the ground and put the ball out for a corner.

From the flag-kick, Harry Pooler attempted to clear, but could only send the ball into the top corner of his own net to level the scores.

Half-time: 1-1

Nine minutes into the second half, Scott Evans played a long ball forward which was latched onto by Tom Williams, who found the net to restore Corwen’s advantage.

In the 61st minute Evans went for goal from a free kick, which was spilled by James Windsor-Allen and hit home by Pooler.

The player’s joy was initially cut short after referee Cory Wellbeloved disallowed the goal for a foul on the keeper. However, after consulting with his assistant the goal was awarded.

Six minutes from time, Tom Williams’ shot hit the post and rebounded into the path of Scott Evans, who had an unguarded net to aim for after keeper Windsor-Allen had committed himself to attempting a save. The linesman initially had his flag up, but after consulting with the man in the middle he quickly put it down again, meaning Evans’ goal could be awarded.

Cefn Albion 4 Llanfair United 2

Albion rose to third in the table with a fine win over fellow high-flyers Llanfair.

Jimmy Jones (2) and Leighton Kendrick handed the Cefners a 3-0 half time lead.

Nathan Williams added a fourth before Llanfair, who had Karl Seliaerts sent off, replied through Nyasha Mwamuka and Max McLaughlin.

Penycae 3 Machynlleth 2

Zac Davies, Jaden Jones and Josh Mazzarella grabbed the goals which earned Penycae a narrow win over Machynlleth, Callum Page and Johan Auf Den Kamp responding.

Carno 2 Berriew 6

Rich pickings for Berriew as an Edward Baker hat-trick helped them deliver a 6-2 success at Carno.

Richard Davies (2) and Steffan Rogers were also on target for the visitors, Jack Orbell and Sean Wild with the home strikes.

Dolgellau Athletic 3 Caersws 6

Luke Mumford and Neil Mitchell both netted twice for the Bluebirds in a nine-goal fest at Dolgellau.

Rhydian Davies and Will Evans added singles for the visitors, David Edwards (pen), Robert Evans and Jamie Jones the home marksmen.

Dolgellau’s Jonathan Sutton was red carded.

Liam Jaques (2) and Andy Gittins bagged the goals which sealed the points for Penparcau, Will Howard replying for the bottom side.
