NORTH WALES WOMEN’S FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Llangefni Town v Trearddur Bay (new venue – Plas Arthur 3G, Llangefni, 2 pm kick-off)

This should be a cracking Anglesey derby between two teams new to the North Wales League this season.

Llangefni have picked up two wins already, while Trearddur have no victories on their record, although they did beat Caernarfon 7-1 early in the campaign only for the result to become void after the Cofis withdrew from the league recently.

While Cefni lost 7-0 at NFA last weekend, they did give a much improved performance in the second half, with Jen Cox a real boost up front.

Trearddur did brilliantly well to hold leaders Bangor 1876 to 0-0 before losing to two late goals.

The more games Llangefni and Trearddur play, the better they will get. They already have a number of very good players on board, some with plenty of experience.

Llanystumdwy v Y Rhyl 1879

Another good contest in store with a much improved Llanystumdwy taking on Rhyl at Dwyfor Park.

Llan lost just 2-1 to Amlwch last weekend and are growing in stature.

Rhyl are a really promising side with some top quality experienced players such as Rachael Nattrass, Becca Bannister and Laura Williams, plus young talent like Emily Bentley and Candice Nellist.

NFA v Northop Hall

This will be a rematch with NFA having already beaten the Hall 3-1 in the Welsh Cup at the Rhyl Leisure Centre pitch this term.

With skipper Rachel Lloyd and striker Amy Webster due back for the home side, they should prove hard to beat especially if last weekend’s hat-trick heroes Emily Jones and Sade Benjamin are equally sharp.

Northop Hall are a good outfit, though, with three wins out of four so far and their only loss a narrow 1-0 at home to Rhyl.

Welshpool Town v Holywell Town

Two teams looking for a first win.

Welshpool have made life tough for visiting sides Bangor 1876 and Rhyl 1879 already and will fancy their chances of a home success.

1 North

Llanfair United v Pwllheli

Currently top of the Adran Trophy 1 North table, Pwllheli will target a third straight win in the group at Mount Field.

Pwll have won seven matches on the bounce, losing just once on the opening day of the season at Wrexham.

Andrew ‘Lefty’ Wright and Erica Jones have assembled a really good squad, all the players know each other well and everyone can do a job where asked.

Llanfair appear to be struggling at present, coming off a 5-0 defeat at Airbus in the league last week.

Wrexham v Airbus UK

Airbus will certainly be buoyed by last weekend’s first win of the campaign – a 5-0 beating of Llanfair in the Genero Adran North League.

Now the Wingmakers are after cup points having lost twice in the group so far.

Wrexham will be determined to bounce back after last weekend’s loss to Connah’s Quay Nomads.

2 North

Bethel v Denbigh Town

Having lost to both Llandudno and Nomads in the Adran Trophy so far, Bethel will be favourites to get past winless Denbigh on Sunday.

While the Caernarfon-area side are having to cope with a few injuries, they should have a strong enough team available to take three points at the San Seilo this weekend.

However, Denbigh began to show improvement last Sunday in their 5-1 reverse to Pwllheli, holding the opposition to 1-1 until the second half.

Connah’s Quay Nomads v Llandudno

In the previous meeting between these two on September 26, Llandudno triumphed 5-2 on The Quay 3G.

After a heartbreaking Welsh Cup exit on penalties to Bethel on October 17, the Nomads rallied well last weekend in beating Wrexham 5-2.

That will have given them confidence ahead of a return meeting with Llandudno, who needed a last gasp equaliser to draw 3-3 with Bethel last weekend.

Should be a cracking encounter.
