Seven North Wales girls are in Loren Dykes’ 20-player squad for the 2022 UEFA Women’s Under-17 EURO Qualifying Round group in Sweden.
Competing in League A of a new format, Wales will first face Italy on Friday 22 October, followed by France three days later and finally hosts Sweden on Thursday 28 October.
The North Walians in the squad are:
Bethan Thomas: From Llandudno, plays for Liverpool FC Women. Central defender who celebrated her 16th birthday earlier this month. Already a Wales Under-15 international.
Lili Jones: Versatile defender/midfielder who now represents Wrexham AFC Women in the Genero Adran League North having previously spent time at Everton.
Sophie Rawling: Represents FAW Trust Academy North. Was star of the Penrhyn Bay side for whom she scored a hat-trick in the 2021 FAW Under-16 Welsh Cup final, although the team lost 4-3 to Barry Town United.
Claudia Jones: Hawarden girl who is showing a lot of promise for Liverpool FC Women Under-21 Academy. Midfield talent.
Faye Hillier-Knox: Originally from Rhyl, goalscorer Faye is now flourishing with the Liverpool Under-21 Academy.
Madison Williams: Classy young talent who has started the season well for Llandudno in the Genero Adran North League. Has become a key figure in the Seasiders’ central defence.
Evie Williams: From Hawarden, Everton player Evie has progressed through the age groups to earn her Under-17 spurs with Wales. Wing-back with pace and considerable skill.
