It was a day to remember for Llanystumdwy as they celebrated their first-ever win in the North Wales Women’s League.

And leading the way was Grace Mpuku, who notched a 14-minute hat-trick at Dwyfor Park.

Following a 5-2 defeat to NFA the previous weekend, Llan fielded an all-attacking line-up for this one to take the game to Holywell right from the first kick.

This proved a good plan as Ellie Williams went through on goal after four minutes following a Jemma Rowlands pass to score in her second start for the club.

Llan doubled their lead with a goal from Shona O’Brien, who found herself at the back post and smashed a shot into the net from close range.

After 21 minutes, Mpuku got in on the action to claim her first after latching on to a very nicely placed pass by Ellie Williams to finish confidently.

In the 25th minute, both girls combined once again, this time Grace putting Ellie through for her second of the afternoon.

After 32 and 35 minutes Grace, who had looked very dangerous throughout the half, latched on to a pair of deliveries from Malen Williams to make it 6-0.

Hana Wellings was next on the scoresheet, pouncing on a through ball from O’Brien to make it 7-0 at half time.

During the second half, Holywell came back into the game and applied a lot of pressure on Llan, although the away keeper Steph Doyle was kept busy too.

Some exquisite play led to two quality goals from Wellwomen captain Sarah Massey.
