Denbigh Wanderers had a good win on Saturday

NORTH EAST WALES LEAGUE VETERANS FOOTBALL – OCTOBER 2 AND 3, 2021

CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION

Denbigh Wanderers picked up their second win of the season with a 4-1 home triumph over Mynydd Isa Spartans in a battle of top-three sides.

Russ Vaughan got the ball rolling with a 10th minute goal before Dai Clayton added a double on 17 and 27.

Stuart Vernon made it four two minutes into the second half.

PREMIER DIVISION

Ruthin Vets were resounding 14-2 winners at Lex XI.

Jordan MacCarter and Andrew Roberts netted four goals apiece, Matty Lowe added a hat-trick and there were singles from Elgan Hughes, Ian Evans and Kev Evans.

A Ruthin team spokesman Tweeted: “Didn’t go the way we expected, but thankful to take 3 pts against an under-strength Lex who gave their all throughout.”

Shotton Steel Vets and Holt and Farndon Vets played out a 4-4 thriller.

Kevin Smart, Jon Kenworthy, Paul Whittaker and Mike Hopkinson all struck in the second half for the Steelmen.
