Top of the table with seven wins in seven matches – it has been a perfect start to the league campaign for Prestatyn Sports.

The latest success for John Hargreaves and Sion Williams’ side came last Saturday with a 4-0 victory at the Flyover Ground.

Junction started much the better, forcing visiting keeper Ryan Jones to produce two brilliant close range stops within the first 10 minutes.

Sports grew from there and brought the best out of home glovesman Stephen O’Neill on a number of occasions before the deadlock was broken on 30 minutes.

From great play down the right, Simon Fawcett saw himself 20 yards out, beat four men in a brilliant solo run and slotted home.

After an even start to the second half, Sports crucially doubled their lead on 65 minutes. Ste Ashe delivered a cross from right wing back and Darren Cassidy was there to score with a great header.

Following a couple of substitutions the visitors kept the pressure up and Fawcett beat three defenders before finishing low to the keeper’s right.

In the 80th minute, James Witherspoon held up the ball then played it across the midfield to Kris Owen, whose neat pass released Ryan Brady to finish well to the bottom corner.

Kai Davies converted a late penalty to secure three points for Mochdre at Swan Road.

Sports were quickest out of the traps and only the heroics of Meliden keeper Chris Wright prevented an early goal.

The visitors had an opportunity when Joe Newell flicked his header on to the advancing Ashley Lally, but his shot was blocked by keeper Nic Bould.

Mochdre were buzzing, though, and Niall Owen found the back of the net in the 13th minute before Chris Lloyd added a second moments later.

Meliden finally awoke, but it took until the 27th minute for them to pull one back when Newell found space for himself to shoot past Bould.

In the 38th minute, Newell found Joe Roberts, who calmly placed the ball into the back of the net to make it 2-2 at half time.

Chances fell at both ends in a more niggly second half but there were no further goals until with a minute to play, Mochdre’s Scott Brown went to ground and much to the dismay of the visitors a penalty was awarded. Davies stepped up to make it 3-2 and win the match.

Quite a game at Y Morfa which saw Glan Conwy recover from 2-0 down to win 5-2.

Kinmel Bay took the lead with a stunning header from Jordan Worthington on 29 minutes, followed shortly after by a Kieran Ellis goal.

Deep into first half injury time, David Sinkinson raised away hopes by making it 2-1.

Despite some great saves by Bay keeper Luke Wilmot after the break, Glan were unstoppable, goals from Darren Landers, Mezz Knight, Jordan Phillips (penalty) and Anthony Gustafson guiding them to victory.

Llandyrnog United 1 Rhuddlan Town 1

Craig Jones’ 88th minute equaliser from a free kick rescued a point for Llandyrnog after Matty Rees had handed Rhuddlan the lead on 73.

Penmaenmawr Phoenix 5 Bro Cernyw 2

Fourth-place Penmaenmawr were in the goals again, Harry Roberts, Tom Paddock, Cory Young, Alfie Caldecott and James Cory all on target, Tom Sheridan and John Owain Hughes replying for the visitors, who were level at 1-1 after 45 minutes.

Rhyl remain one of only two unbeaten sides in the division, although they have played just four league games so far – considerably less than most.

Carl Lamb (2, 1 pen), Dan Lloyd and Macauley Taylor were the home marksmen, Gruffudd Roberts replying for Llansannan, who had former Rhyl striker Leon Gierke sent off for two yellow cards.
