Cymru North underdogs Holywell Town have been drawn away to Cymru Premier champions Connah’s Quay Nomads in the quarter-finals of the Nathaniel MG Cup.

The national competition remains regionalised in the last eight and only becomes open draw at the semi-final stage.

Holywell, who in 2013-14 became the only tier 3 club in history to reach the Welsh Cup semi-final, won 4-3 at Prestatyn Town on Tuesday night to reach the Nathaniel quarters.

Johnny Haseldin’s side are renowned cup fighters but will have their work cut out stopping Andy Morrison’s holders reaching the last four when they lock horns at Deeside Stadium next month.

In the other northern quarter-final, Bala Town, who edged through on penalties in the last round against Bangor City, host Newtown, 5-0 conquerors of Caernarfon Town on Tuesday.

All ties will be played on Tuesday, October 26.
