Ardal North West: Big wins for Porthmadog, Mold, Llay and Llanuwchllyn, Saltney grab last-gasp leveller

A hat-trick from Marcus Banks was the highlight of a dazzling Porthmadog performance which lifted them to second in Ardal North West.

The hosts took the lead after four minutes. A long ball by Nathan Craig was chased with great determination by John Littlemore and although his initial shot was well saved by the onrushing Jamie Griffiths in goal, he made no mistake with the rebound.

On 12 minutes, Port doubled their advantage when Marcus Banks coolly lifted the ball into the roof of the net following a cross by Craig.

The hosts had a very generous share of possession for nearly all the half, although Brickfield grew into the game and went close to scoring with a couple of half chances from just outside the box.

The second half was barely three minutes old when Port made the game safe. A well-placed cross by Stuart Rogers presented Marcus Banks with a header from virtually on the goal-line.

It was almost four when a bullet header by Josh Banks from a Paul Lewis corner went narrowly over the crossbar.

Two minutes later, Port were awarded a penalty and up stepped Marcus Banks to score past Griffiths outstretched right hand for his hat-trick.

Shortly thereafter came the best goal of the game from Brickfield’s Owen Jones as he sent a daisy cutter into the corner of the net.

The scoring for the afternoon was completed on 72 minutes when Lewis worked himself into a good position to score after two bites at the cherry.

Llanuwchllyn 4 Llanrwst United 1

Llanuwchllyn went top of Ardal North West on the back of a victory which was wrapped up by half time.

Joe Williams (2), Tom Watkin-Jones and Joe Evans all struck for the hosts in the first 45 minutes, Callum Parry replying for the Roosters.

Saltney Town 2 Llandudno Albion 2

An equaliser five minutes into added time from Ryan McCleary ensured Saltney stretched their unbeaten run to 10 matches.

In a goalless first half, Bordermen manager Andy Dutton was shown a red card and ordered to leave the dugout.

Shaun Tinsley put the hosts one-up on 51 minutes, but soon after Steve Chiocchi was dismissed for Town.

Albion took advantage with a Jordan Kane penalty and a fine Dave Maddock finish to go 2-1 up in the 72nd minute.

It looked like an away win, but the prolific McCleary pounced for his 10th goal in seven games to save the day for the 10 men.

Brymbo 1 Mold Alexandra 6

An emphatic win on the road for Mold with Steve Watkins scoring twice.

Danny Warren, Conner Kendrick, Matty Lewis and Paul Lindfield were also on the mark for the visitors, Nathan Conlan replying.

Llay Welfare 5 Nantlle Vale 2

Jonny Taylor and Tom Wells scored two apiece for Llay in a comfortable success over visitors Vale.

One of Wells’ goals came from the penalty spot. Jack Edwards also found the net for the hosts, Cai Morgan and Jamie Thomas responding.

Rhydymwyn 1 Rhostyllen 5

Will Nevitt grabbed a hat-trick for convincing away winners Rhostyllen.

Josh Lock and Jamie Richards were the other travelling marksmen, Nathan Mendoza with a consolation for the hosts.

CPD Y Felinheli 2 St Asaph City 2

Two winless teams remained so after this 2-2 draw at Cae Seilo.

Bottom side Saints led twice through Jack Williams and Jackson Brewerton, but Rhodri Jones and a late leveller from Gruff John salvaged a point for Felin.

Denbigh Town 7 Blaenau Amateurs 0

Hat-tricks from Stu Jones and substitute Mark Roberts, plus a single from Sam Tate, ensured Denbigh triumphed emphatically.

The winning margin would have been much higher but for the heroics of Quarrymen keeper Cian Williams.
