Grassroots North Wales recently featured teams which are (or were) unbeaten in all competitions this season in our article The Trailblazers.

However, there are other sides in North Wales who have lost a game or two but are still in red-hot form.

One such team is Chirk AAA.

In the new Ardal North East League, the Colliers have rocketed out of the traps, winning all six matches so far to top the table with 25 goals scored and just three conceded.

Chirk’s only losses have come against Rhos Aelwyd – on penalties in the Welsh Cup – and the mighty Cefn Albion, by 2-1 in the FAW Amateur Trophy. Nothing at all to be ashamed of there.

And the Holyhead Road side are already into the quarter-finals of the NEWFA Challenge Cup.

They did also win two Trophy ties and one Welsh Cup game before exiting those competitions.

Chirk’s overall record is: Played 13 Won 11 Lost 2 with 38 goals scored and just 8 let in.

Goals have been spread throughout the team, Matty Thomas leading the way with 9, Lewis Clamp and Louie Middlehurst 6 apiece and Dale Davies on 5.
It has been a tremendous start for the team managed by Andy Pryde and James Williams.

And things are going pretty well as a club too. Chirk AAA Reserves currently have a 100 percent record in the FAW Reserve League North East.

Mark Holmes and Jack Ellis, Chirk men through and through, are doing a magnificent job.

A great club with a fantastic history, the present and future are also looking bright for Chirk AAA.
