North East Wales Veterans League – Quay secure a dramatic win

NORTH EAST WALES FOOTBALL VETERANS LEAGUE

PREMIER DIVISION

Tommy Leonard’s 90th minute winner clinched a thrilling 4-3 victory for Connah’s Quay Nomads Vets in a goal-packed season’s opener against Shotton Steel Veterans.

Craig Worthington and Graeme Sumner (2) had struck for Quay, while John Kenworthy and Paul Whittaker (2) replied for Shotton to make it all-square.

The stage was set for a decider and it was Leonard who delivered with a clean strike into the bottom corner.

Darren Pritchard and Stuart Schueber both bagged braces in Lex XI’s 5-2 success at Buckley Town.

Kevin Breeze added a single for the visitors, Shaun Buxton and Billy Hollins replied.

CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION

Sam Pugh was a two-goal star as Hawarden Rangers whipped Point of Ayr 5-1.

Nick Jones, Danny Roberts and Tim McCarthy also registered for the hosts, all this after Bob Brown had given the Colliers an early lead.

Michael Adamson and Craig Williams pocketed a pair apiece in Mynydd Isa Spartans‘ 5-3 victory against Penmaenmawr Phoenix. Adam Jones also scored one for the winning side.
