Cymru North: Wins for Conwy, Colwyn Bay and Guilsfield

Craig Whelan’s late header secured maximum points for Conwy at Y Morfa.

Man of the match Sean McCaffery put the Tangerines into a 41st minute lead, but James Burgess levelled before the break.

Corrig McGonigle restored Borough’s one-goal advantage from the penalty spot nine minutes into the second half only for Harrison Lewis to make it all-square again on 75.

Conor Davies provided the excellent cross which set up Whelan’s winner.

Winning manager Matty Jones said: “Llanrhaeadr played with great character and made things very difficult for us, but ultimately the players stuck to the game plan and ensured we finished the game with another 3 points.

“I was very pleased with how we kept going until the very end and the players never panicked and played some very good football. It’s been a good week picking up 6 points from 6 as we now enter a run of very tough games starting with Prestatyn next Saturday.”

Colwyn Bay 4 (McCready 30 & 74, Morris 43, Creamer 86)

Bay were in ruthless form at Cae Baker as they rattled up a four-goal victory.

Tom McCready broke the deadlock on the half-hour when he let fly from about 20 yards and his powerful strike beat the dive of keeper Leigh Jenkins.

It was 2-0 before the break, the ball arriving from a corner at the feet of Llyr Morris, who lashed home from 10 yards.

The Seagulls went three-up on 74 minutes when McCready’s vicious near-post shot whizzed high into the net.

Great work from Robbie Parry set up the fourth, the ex-TNS man rolling the ball back from the byline into the path of new signing Tommy Creamer, whose left foot drive was too good for Jenkins.

Guilsfield 4 (Draper 19 & 44; Litchfield 50, Matthews 86)
Bangor City 2 (Cathrall OG 73, Boss 90)

Two goals from Greg Draper helped a Guilsfield side which could finally emerge as genuine title contenders this season overcome Bangor at Clos Mytton.

Draper struck twice in the first half to put the home team in command at the interval.

Sam Litchfield’s goal early in the second period went a long way towards guaranteeing the points for Guils.

A Chris Cathrall own goal gave the Citizens hope, but Iwan Matthews’ 86th minute fourth for the hosts killed the contest.

Alex Boss notched a late consolation for the outplayed visitors, who also had Juan Torres dismissed for two yellows.
