North East Wales League – Chirk Town hit six of the best to remain clear top

NORTH EAST WALES FOOTBALL LEAGUE ROUND-UPS – AUGUST 14

Premier Division

Unbeaten Chirk Town maintained their dominance of the North East Wales League Premier Division with a 6-0 home caning of Greenfield.

Keegan Jakoulevs, Aaron Davies (2), Nicky Williams, Tom Freeman and James Williams combined to produce half-a-dozen goals.

Two goals late in the first half from Phil Lloyd and Sam Jones secured Halkyn and Flint Mountain a 2-0 verdict over Hawarden Rangers.

It ended 1-1 between Coedpoeth United and Overton Recreational. Sion Turner gave Coedy a 12th minute lead, but Tom Huxley levelled early in the second half.

Kristian Jones, Jake Hayward and Rupeni Thorn grabbed the goals which earned Llangollen Town a 3-2 triumph against Lex XI, who led twice through a pair from the in-form Seb Kidd.

Barry Torrence (2, 1 pen) was yet again the match-winner for FC Queen’s Park in their 2-1 decision at New Brighton Villa, Adam Blunden replying, while Mynydd Isa Spartans and Castell Alun Colts shared a 0-0 split.

Championship Division

Penyffordd Lions rattled up a 12-2 victory over FC United of Wrexham.

Mark Emberton, Mark Gallagher (3, 1 pen), Liam Williams (2), Gareth Higgins (2), Marcus Davies (2), Thomas Davies and Dylan Williams made up the dozen, Rhys McDermott and Aston Jones responding.

Johnstown YFC romped to a 6-0 result at Bellevue, Robert Reynolds (2), Dwayne Jones, Finley Lloyd Poole, Dewi Reeves and Callum Poole coming up with the goals.

Ryan Hewitt notched a hat-trick as Connah’s Quay Town walloped Caerwys 6-0, Sean Williams, Tommy Leonard and Lee Reynolds adding singles.

Brymbo Lodge and AFC Bagillt played out a 4-4 thriller.

There were two goals apiece for Lodge’s Matthew Harrison and Ethan Snell, who scored right at the death to salvage a point.

Man of the Match for the hosts was Ryan Price, the young shot stopper making a string of saves, the best a point blank double effort.

Thomas Edwards, Jordan Foster and Thomas Hyndman (2) hit back for Bagillt, who actually led 4-2 in the 90th minute.

Mark Jones put Ruabon Rovers one-up at Borras Park Albion, but Lewis Evison equalised to secure a 1-1 draw.

Reserve Division

Matthew Bithell hit five for FC Queen’s Park in a 9-2 hammering of Coedpoeth United.

Ben White (2), Jon Roberts and Jake Harper pocketed the rest, Scott Davies and Jacob Williams with consolations for the visitors.

Harvey Finch (2), Stephen Birch and Daniel Smith earned Llangollen Town a 4-2 outcome at Castell Alun Colts, Gavin Hughes and Sam Moore responding.

Harry Killick’s double gave Cefn Mawr Rangers a 2-2 result at Hawarden Rangers, Louis Anglesea and Liam Hett for the hosts.

And it was also 2-2 between Caerwys and Llay Welfare Colts.

Ruari Wood and Christopher Hoey were the home marksmen, Elliot Bull and James Towey for Llay.
