Cymru Premier League goal-scoring legend Mike Wilde has signed for Flint Town United.
The 37-year-old, who left champions Connah’s Quay Nomads earlier today, makes the short trip to the Essity Stadium to continue his CPL career.
In 16 seasons in the league, Wilde has won nine Welsh Premier titles, five Welsh Cups, six League Cups and the FAW Premier Cup.
His 206 WPL goals place him fourth in the all-time scorers list.
He is the league’s all-time record scorer in Europe with seven, and was Welsh Premier Player of The Season in 2012/13 and 2020/21. Wilde’s one Golden Boot title came in 2012/13.
Wilde first landed in the WPL when he joined TNS (then known as Total Network Solutions) in 2002 from Poulton Victoria.
He spent six-and-a-half seasons with the Saints before joining Fleetwood Town in January 2009. The striker later moved to Halifax Town and Chester where he netted 36 goals in 43 games before returning to TNS in June 2012.
By the time he left Park Hall, he had won seven league titles, four Welsh Cups, five League Cups and the FAW Premier Cup, as well as netting 153 league goals for the Saints.
Wilde signed for Nomads in June 2016 and went on to make a total of 154 competitive starts for the club, scoring on 73 occasions, 53 in the Cymru Premier.
During his time with the Quay, Wilde won two JD Cymru Premier titles, one JD Welsh Cup, one Nathaniel MG Cup and also picked up runners-up medals in the Irn Bru Cup and JD Welsh Cup, whilst also picking up the JD Cymru Premier Player of the Season 2020-21 award.
This summer has already seen Flint manager Neil Gibson sign Jake Phillips from Newtown, Michael Parker, Jack Kenny and Telor Williams from Caernarfon Town and secure goalkeeper Jon Rushton on a permanent deal.
The Silkmen will go all out to avoid a repeat of last season’s struggles, which saw them return to the top flight after a 22-year absence and finish next-to-bottom.
Getting Wilde on board is proof of that determination to do better.
