Amlwch Town ladies building nicely for the new football season

Amlwch Town’s women kick off their pre-season friendlies on Wednesday night with an Anglesey derby.

Newly-formed Llangefni Town ladies will be the visitors to Lon Bach for a warm-up match which starts at 6.45 pm.

Amlwch are rebuilding their squad following the departure of several players this summer.

The 2019-20 North Wales League Division Two champions applied to be part of the elite Tier 2 North for the 2021-22 season but unfortunately were unsuccessful so will compete in the 11-team North Wales League in the forthcoming campaign.

Here are the players committed so far, with more to follow:

Ceri Pritchard

Experienced goalkeeper who has done a great job between the sticks for Amlwch in recent seasons.
Was part of the 2018-19 Supplementary Cup winning side, plus the 2019-20 North Wales League Division Two championship squad.
Ceri has also represented Ynys Môn at the Inter-Island Games.

Carol Lewis (captain)

A true leader and rock-solid defender who has constantly improved her game as the seasons have progressed.
Llannerchymedd lass who is Amlwch Town through and through, being a leading light in all the club’s recent successes.
Also an Ynys Môn representative.

Cerys Gadd

No introduction needed. One of the greats of North Wales women’s football with a tremendous record as a goal-scoring midfielder.
She played for Caernarfon Town in their golden spell from 2009-11 and has since represented Bangor City and Amlwch.
One of the stars of Ynys Môn’s silver medal winning team at the 2019 Inter-Island Games on Anglesey.

Shannon Thomas

Another player loved and respected for her loyalty and enthusiasm in Amlwch Town colours over the years.
Lively player who can operate in many positions. Her goals record has improved in recent seasons – some of them have been quite spectacular.
A very popular character, always plays with a smile on her face.

Emma Louise Roberts

Disability Sports Wales officer for Anglesey, Emma is the daughter of former Bangor City ace and now Wales international walking football superstar Steve Roberts.
Centre-back Emma, 21, has played for Amlwch Juniors, Bangor City, Caernarfon Town, Cardiff Met and. of course, Amlwch Town.
Another Ynys Môn representative, she has attained her C-certificate with the FAW and currently coaches girls Huddle sessions in Amlwch.

Anna Roberts

Sister to Emma.
Pacy winger who flies down the flanks, but also tracks back well. Has played for Amlwch, but more recently represented Hartpury University and Gloucestershire county.
Was in Ynys Môn’s highly successful 2019 Inter-Island Games squad.

Jo Bramwell

Midfielder who began playing football aged eight with her local team Deal Town Rangers. She remained with the club before moving away to study.
Next came four years as a central defensive midfielder for Bangor University, where she was captain in her last two.
She represented Welsh Universities twice in 2017 and 2019.
After leaving uni in September 2019 she went travelling before returning in March and permanently moving to North Wales. Joined Amlwch Town last season.

Lowri Alaw Thomas

Exciting new prospect who has just joined the Amlwch squad.
This 16-year-old midfielder played for Llannerchymedd FC Juniors for 5 years, winning most improved player, managers player two times, players’ player twice and supporters player.
Lowri has also represented the North Wales squad in the Wales Regionals.
With Llangefni FC Girls under-14’s she won players’ player and manager’s player, then later moved on to Caernarfon Town under-16’s.
She also captains the girls’ team at Ysgol Uwchradd Bodedern.

Yasmin Leung

Central midfielder on the football pitch and talented all-round sportswoman who has excelled at hockey and rugby in the past.
She played international rugby for Wales while with UWIC, operating mainly as a scrum-half or fly-half.
Also a former Wales Under-19 footballer, she is expected to add strength to the Amlwch Town side.
The 30-year-old formerly studied Sport Development and Coaching at University of Wales Institute, Cardiff.

Krystle Bancroft

Newly-signed defender who was born on the same day as team-mate Emma Louise Roberts.
Student at John Moores University and ex-pupil at Ysgol Syr Thomas Jones, Amlwch, she will be looking to make her mark in the North Wales Women’s League in the season ahead.
Has past football experience with Bangor.
