DIVISION ONE

St Georges 1st XI (20) 215-7 Chirk 1st XI (6) 214-10

Despite a great batting effort Chirk just came up short against the unbeaten Division One leaders.

Put into bat, the visitors lost their first two wickets for no runs, but Gareth Partridge (50) and Nick Flack (61) recovered the situation with a stand of 100.

In-form captain Andrew Swarbrick added 39 and the Welsh side were eventually all out for 214 in 44.4 overs, Alex Johnson 5-31 for the hosts.

In reply, the Shropshire men were in trouble at 53-5 and 119-7, but an unbroken partnership of 96 for the eighth wicket between Lewis Sedgley (73 not out) and Cameron Watson (40 no) saw St Georges to 215-7 and a three-wicket win.

Billy Swarbrick picked up 3-35 and Flack 2-47 for the visitors, who had the hosts worried and can take many positives from this performance.

DIVISION SEVEN

Chirk 2nd XI (20) 182-4 Albrighton 2nd XI (6) 181-5

Dale Randall’s unbeaten 83 proved a match-winning knock for Chirk 2nds at home to Albrighton.

The visitors won the toss and chose to bat, setting 181-5 off their 40 overs, Matt Jones a dominant 102, Carlton Murray 53.

Chirk’s standout bowler was Connor Bailey with 4-25 from eight.

Randall then led the way with the bat, Connor Bailey (38 no) and Gary Bailey (26) also making vital contributions as the hosts reached 182-4 in the 31st over.
