Chirk deliver at the double: Swarbrick bowls ’em over

Chirk 1st XI (21) 96-3 Alberbury 1st XI (2) 95-10

Andrew Swarbrick produced fine figures of 4-26 for a Chirk side which proved too strong for their visitors at Holyhead Road.

Alberbury won the toss and decided to bat, but could only muster 95 all out off 24.5 overs.

New-ball left-arm paceman Swarbrick was well supported by all the bowlers, Luke Gardner claiming 2-3 off five and Nick Flack 2-20.

Facing a modest target, the North Walians eased to 96-3 from just 14.1 overs, opener Gareth Partridge holding things together with 55 not out off just 41 balls, striking 10 fours and a six.

Chirk triumphed by 21 points to 2 and sit fourth in the table.

DIVISION EIGHT

Quatt 4th XI (3) 88-10 Chirk 2nd XI (24) 206-5

Division Eight leaders by a 33-point margin, Chirk seconds posted a great total of 206-5 against Quatt 4ths and then skittled the opposition out for just 88.

All seven Chirk batsmen who arrived at the crease made double figures in the away side’s useful score, Bala Vajrala hitting 34, Dale Randall 33, skipper Rob Williams 31, Gary Bailey 23 not out and Harry Lunt 22.

The hosts were then removed for a low score which was never going to threaten the Colliers.

Alfie Shaw took 3-18, Zahid Nasiri 3-30 and Arthur Pritchard 2-17.

Chirk won by 118 runs and 24-3 on points
