North East Wales Football League round up – July 9 and 10

Master marksman Nicky Williams scored four for Chirk Town

Overton Recreation 0 Chirk Town 8

Nicky Williams struck four times for a rampant Chirk Town.

The Taverners made the short trip to Overton on Friday night for a league fixture and got off to the best possible start when midfielder Tristan Lloyd put them one-up after just 2 minutes with a strike from the edge of the box.

The in-form Aaron Davies made it two after 18 minutes, prolific marksman Nicky Williams helped himself to a brace before half time with brother Josh Williams also scoring from 18 yards. Half-time: 0-5.

It was more of the same second half with The Tav having a lot of possession. Lloyd weighed in with number six from the spot.

Nicky Williams, who was running the Overton defence ragged all game, fired in another pair to make it 8-0 and six in two games since his return from injury.

In all honesty it could have been more with Jonny Mitchell, Aaron Davies and skipper Matthew Cooke all going close.

Goalkeeper Nathan Aldridge got down well at the death to make a smart save and ensure the clean sheet.

Next league game for Chirk Town is Tuesday’s derby clash at Cefn Rangers.

Johnstown YFC 3 Penyffordd Lions 8

Although Penyffordd won comfortably in the end, they only led 4-3 at half time against a battling Johnstown.

Joel Buchannon 3, Sam Morris, Freddie Howarth, Jay Jones, Marcus Davies and Gaz Higgins shared the away goals, Rowan Birch, Robert Reynolds and Connor Wintin all netting for the hosts in the first half.

CPD Bellevue 1 Borras Park Albion 6

Three goals in each half made this a comfortable win for BPA.

Ken Davies, Stephen Lee, Ryan Price, Joseph Moss (2) and Daniel Jones made up the half-dozen, Brandon Griffiths with a first-half consolation for Bellevue.

CPD Sychdyn 6 Brymbo Lodge 2

Sychdyn’s firepower proved too much for nine-man Brymbo Lodge.

Keiye Williams (2), Ryan Barratt (2), Stuart Buxton and Aaron Bennett were the home hitmen, Ethan Snell and Ben Peters replying for the visitors, who had Sam Colley and James Moore red-carded.

Lodge manager Kieran Howard said: “Playing roughly 48 minutes with nine men was always going to be unmanageable for us.

“Equally, we are two games in and played actually really well – even with nine men. However, we cant lose football matches because of our ill-discipline and poor-decision making – just cant happen.

“We are a damn good football side but all need to pull together in games. I’m disappointed today that individuals and poor decision-making have cost us.”

FC United of Wrexham 0 Railway Rovers 5

On a day when four Championship matches produced a whopping 31 goals, FC United of Wrexham were the only team not to score.

The hosts were derailed by Railway, who won 17-0 the previous weekend.

Joao Da Silva, Samuel Giles (2). Luke Hughes and Jordan Valentine made up the Rovers nap-hand.
