Holywell performed really well on Thursday

Six goals for Holywell will have boosted their confidence ahead of the new 2021-22 season.

The Wellwomen’s first season in the North Wales League was a steep learning curve – at times the defeats were heavy but the spirit was never broken.

On Thursday night the ladies visited Llysfaen Lionesses, who to date have played their football in the former North Wales Recreational League.

The Lionesses have some experienced players in their squad, such as Hayley Gibson and Emma Fisher, stars of the former Colwyn Bay championship-winning team of years gone by.

Boosted by the addition of striker Zoe Stopford, Holywell put up a fine display on the Daisy Pitch.

Courtney Lancaster showed she could be one to watch this season by scoring twice, while Jo Lloyd, Emma Fox, Ruby McGilloway and Laura Scott were also on target.

Llysfaen played their part in a good contest, Hayley Gibson their scorer. Gemma Crutchlow-Porter was their Player of the Match.
