Callum Davidson bagged a hat-trick and the prolific Dean Redmond added a double as the Tigers roared to an opening night 5-0 victory at Maes Meurig.

Menai manager Aaron Rowlands was delighted with the performance of his new-look side.

“I was very pleased with our performance in our first game back,” said Rowlands.

“Happy to keep a clean sheet and pick up three points in our first outing. Great to get the new additions finally out as well for their competitive debuts. Still early days and plenty for us to improve on, but a solid start by the lads.

“Sion Hogan and Owain Roberts (right back) had solid games, but Callum Davidson was man of the match.”

Davidson broke the deadlock on the half-hour from a Paul Rowlands assist.

Callum Thomas then set up Redmond for his opener five minutes before the break.

Right on half time, good work by Callum Andrews enabled Davidson to make it three.

There was no let up from the Tigers in the second period, Redmond notching his second on 47 minutes helped by the creative Thomas again.

By the 49th minute it was well and truly all over, Davidson completing his treble from a Rowlands assist to increase the away lead to 5-0.

Menai’s five goals all came in a dynamic 21-minute spell either side of half time.

It was a tough baptism for Gwalchmai’s new management team of Liam Ewing and Gwyndaf Davies, but not all tests will be this difficult.
